Winter Fun and New Coaches

December 10, 2008

Our Winter Speed and Agility Camp has filled up nicely and we are soooo excited about the camp this year. With so much passion, encouragement and new, talented coaches, the players are sure to not only improve but develop tremendously, get fit and be stronger for the spring season. We know they’re going to have loads of fun. Phil and I have been excited to be able to revamp the program and know with the addition of qualified and experienced coaches we are sure this will be one of the finest ever camps!

In the past it has been difficult to prepare a comprehensive program that can truly bring the different dynamic characteristics of soccer to the players. I believe we have what it takes to genuinely provide the functional training opportunities while still focusing on our skill and technical principle.

I have been so proud of the developments and achievements of Core trained players over the last season (yes I know I own and run this organization!), yet even so; it is full of quality, experience and fun. That’s what I wanted as a young player and I am honored to offer that to the community I live in, and most of all the players. This Camp will be awesome. We have developed a fantastic Shooting and Finishing program this summer and fall with coach Daniel Clitnovici.

Daniel’s experience as a playmaking, attack minded midfielder and forward has allowed the Core players to be exposed to a whole new range of attacking options and skills, while also offering repetition and progression - which is crucial to any players development. Mark Clitnovici has also added a wealth of Club and Collegiate coaching experiences to the Core academy, while offering a very professional and positive approach to his coaching. While Josh has worked for me previously and is back with much more experience and passion after a short stint in Texas.

That’s just a small example of what we have been able to improve at Core… now we will implement it and a whole lot more this winter… see you on the field!!!!

World Cup 2010 - South Africa

October 3, 2008

World Cup 2010 - South AfricaNow that the UEFA European Championships are over, we can concentrate on qualification for the World Cup. Whilst team USA have a relatively easy path to begin with, the likes of Barbados and Guatemala, the second round should be a bit harder, with Trinidad and Tobago and good old Mexico waiting to pounce. Over in Europe, it’s a different game altogether. England are top of their group, but face challenging games against the Ukraine, and Croatia (the team who put England out of the UEFA 2006 finals). Scotland and Ireland have a couple of tough games as they are grouped with Holland and Italy respectively, and Wales will no doubt just fail to qualify, as they always seem to do as they are up against ze Germans and a tough looking Russia.

We’ll keep on reporting as the qualification rounds carry on over the next year. We’ll update you on Mexico, Brazil and Argentina in the next update!

UEFA 2008

June 25, 2008

EURO 2008Of the four teams remaining in this years UEFA 2008 tournament, I would never have thought Turkey and Russia would be in with a shout. Turkey have played some tough, but not really inspiring football and have eased their way through to the Semifinals, whereas Russia have been simply amazing. They’ve played some great attacking football and took apart Holland in the quarterfinals.

The other 2 teams, Germany and Spain are no real suprise. When it comes to tournies, you can never discount Germany, they are always solid and play high quality football, particularly the midfield. As for Spain, who knows. Personally I want them to go all the way and watch Torres light up the final….

UEFA 2008 Tournament

June 9, 2008

The UEFA 2008 European Championships begin this week and we’re looking forward to seeing some amazing action for the next month as the best teams in Europe battle to become champions. Unlike the Champions League, the UEFA tournament pits nation v nation, so we’ll be seeing some great matchups including Italy v France, Spain v Sweden and hopefully Portugal v anyone! For more details click here to see the official site and schedule. ESPN Classic will be showing all the games live for the next month. Sadly, England failed to qualify for the tournament….

Who do you think will win? The favorites are France, Germany (always), Italy and maybe Spain…
