Our ultimate goal is to prepare players on Friday to showcase their best talents for Saturday/Sunday for club play. Core’s technical repetition training and mechanical review will set players and teams up for success on both sides of transition for the game. It is vital to get these kinds of repetitions for successful actions under pressure.
Attacking – Finishing from close range, recognizing the movement and space behind the defender, 1v1 hesitation and passing moves, understanding how and when to penetrate based on depth and angle, dealing with and without pressure to execute and different types of finishing actions. To feel the success as a player you are looking for you have to train it, trust it and love it.
Defending – Teaching the stages of correct individual defending, timing of closing down and not rushing in, how and when to tackle and the mechanics that follow for safety, group defending, winning the ball, block tackles, slide tackling, heading the ball short and far, shielding opponents and clearing balls out of danger. To defend well it is important to simulate the action needed. Too often players defend poorly in games because within training sessions there are not enough moments to isolate and teach the correct methods of defending.
